Glass bangles have won and enchanted Indian women's heart since many years ago. Numerous archaeological evidences from the site of Indus valley Civilization support the fact that women from ancient ages wore glass bangles as ornamental accessory on their arms and forearms to make them more beautiful and attractive. Firstly we talked about the cut of the stone. Now finding a good quality bright green tourmaline with this cut is not impossible to find but can be tricky so we decided that custom cutting was the way forward. We custom cut the green tourmaline from a larger cushion stone to create the look. We combined the chequer board facetted cut on top but with a more square proportioned shape rather than oval. The lapidaries squared up the proportions and then facetted the top of the stone. This creating a square cushion shape with a facetted top! Donna felt a straight sided square stone would be a little harsh so decided that she would like to have the stone with softened corners. The initial stone was 1.72cts and ended up at 1.05ct. After being cut gemstone it is difficult. We searched for a green tourmaline of the right colour that could be cut to shape. The twist ring is simple in style holds the tourmaline for a modern design. You may be familiar with the term, 'Diamonds are Forever'. It is made popular by the De Beers advertising campaigns and for good reason. They have been used throughout the ages as bearers of mystic powers and incredible beauty. Not only are these diamonds rare in numbers but also in the number of skilled artisans that can complement their exquisite beauty. Part of the credit for the almost mythical reverence to diamonds throughout the years belongs to the fact that these beauties are quite rare in their most sought after gemstone quality form. Through the centuries they have been revered and admired by many civilizations. When it comes to history, diamonds have a very long and fascinating record as one of the most intriguing gemstones on the planet. Forged billions of years ago, long before dinosaurs roamed the planet, they have survived the forces of nature to reach us. |
